Gruene Isn’t Just a Color in Texas

Historic Greune

Originally founded in 1872 by Henry D. Greune to start a cotton farm with his father and brothers. The first house he built in 1872, has since been modified and turned in the Greune Mansion that still stands today. It stands as a designated Texas historic landmark and is still open for business.Over the years this tiny district expanded and now is home to Greune hall, antique shops, wineries and much much more. Today its a great place to spend the weekend to just relax and get away.

Shop til you drop

Have you ever wanted to see what the masses used in the past? Well take a walk through one of the many antique shops and find some hidden treasures. With a mix of old, new and everything in-between Greune is a great place to shop. For the modern era shoppers there’s getting little clothing boutiques, metal shops and jewelry stores. You can even walk into the General store that was once the local mercantile where you can find a little bit of everything.

Never go hungry again

After your long hard day of shopping and taking in the scenery, you need to replenish your body. Even though Greune is small don’t think it doesn’t have an array of places to eat and drink. Its most popular and scenic restaurants is the Gristmill. From an old cotton gin and processing building, was remodeled to make for a beautiful restaurant. It has a little bit of everything, so no one will go hungry. The best way to enjoy this place is to sit outside and enjoy the view of the river on a cool spring day. Greune is also home to many Mexican food restaurants and its very own winery. So if you want to shop, eat or drink Greune has everything for you all along one stretch.
