Not Just Any Other Waterpark

IMG_4344Now just about everyone knows that Schlitterbahn isn’t like any other waterpark, but what really makes it special? I have recently read Sharon Kurhegs blog post on this amazing place and I feel she shares a unique view on it. Her and her husband Joe have made it a yearly thing to go and take a mini vacation to the wonderful theme park. They first discovered it when the travel channel did a segment on it in the early 2000’s. Since then it has been the place they go instead of a traditional vacation like most other couples.

In her post, I found it very interesting about how the theme park  itself is built. Unlike most other major waterparks that are concrete slabs and long lines; Schlitterbahn’s original park is built into the hills of the city and some slides are even fed by the river that runs right next to it. Now since its opening in 1979, Schlitterbahn has since expanding into two different parks. The second one is about a mile away and is more of what you would expect from your run of the mill waterpark. One of the main attractions in this second park is “the dragon revenge” the first uphill water coaster.

Kurheg does a great job on her site to keep the reader interested. She has videos that show a riders point if view, making it feel like you are riding the ride yourself. It makes the readers even more excited to visit Schlitterbahn for themselves. Ashe hopes that everyone will share her and her husbands love for this place and can’t wait to go again. Even growing up near it myself and having been there multiple times; I feel I see it in a new light and can’t wait to go again. For for info and videos of the attractions check out her blog!
